I did experience the same. I standard KR2S cannot be trimmed.
It will keep the trim speed for a maximum of 30 seconds before it will climb or
descend and not return to the trim speed....

My authority would not certify such a longitudinal static and dynamic
instability.
I am currently experimenting with horizontal stabilizer extensions to the plans
build stab.

I added 10cm (4 inch) on each side of the horizontal stab.

I was surprised, with the extension the static stability increased so that you
can trim the KR.
Upsetting the trim speed the KR will now go back the trim speed within +-5kts.
Approach speed trimming is not a problem now.
However the dynamic stability has increase and if you move the stick 1" forward
and then 1" aft and let go, it will go up and down indefinitely with a speed
range between 80-120 kts (I guess this is a neutral dynamic stability).

My plan is now to increase the horizontal span by 15cm (6 ") on either side and
test again to see if the dynamic stability improves further.

I flew my KR this morning to an airshow about 40 miles out. The air
was quite smooth at 3500 feet so I did some "hand off the stick"
test. On one attempt I was able to take my hand off the stick for
a full 30 seconds (timed with my watch) before it started to wander
off and I had to grip the stick. I did cheat a bit with some side to
side head bobbing and a few sholder wiggles. That's the longest
I've been able to release the stick and challenge other KR fliers
to beat that time.

I once made a flight in the Tripacer just after sundown and was
able to fly hands off the yoke for 25 minutes. I did a forward and
back lean for altitude correction and very slight rudder inputs
for direction and wings level. I even made the decent into the airport
hands off the yoke. I finally had to grip the yoke after trying to
rudder a turn into a left downwind.
