Trevor,

Yes, you can combine them technically. Carbon Fiber is more difficult to work 
with than regular fiberglass and really is not needed. Unless you just have a 
bunch laying around, it is not needed for the airplanes structural strength. If 
you do the leading edge correctly, you actually will have 4 layers out front by 
overlapping two from the top, and two from the bottom.

instrument panel, leading edge and so on.

carbon-fiber front and a fiberglass back to my new
instrument panel.I'm
interested in seeing how it turns out.
