I think you'll find most aftermarket ignition systems use a wasted spark system. The Emags on my O-200 do, as do the Light Speed and EFI ignition systems.
I just pulled the NGK plugs out of my O-200 last weekend. Took a look at them and put them back in again. They look like new at 100 hrs in service. Re: tiny tach. With the Tiny Tachs you have to remember it is an inductive pick up, so the right hand magnetic rules apply. If you have an aircraft ignition wire, it's solid wire, so you have to wrap the tiny tach wire around the ignition wire. The direction of the wrap is important But if you are using automotive wires, they are spiral wound, so the inductive lead for the Tiny Tach has to lay in a straight line next to the ignition lead. Wrapping it with foil to hold it in the correct position will help. It is also sensitive to the direction you lay the wire. Google "Right Hand Rule for Magnetic Fields" for more information. I fought this same battle with a Tiny Tach in an Avid Flyer, then a GlasAir a few years ago. Figured it out once I remembered my old basic electricity classes from college. -Jeff Scott Los Alamos, NM > > Yes, I think most motorcycle ignitions use the "wasted spark" system.
