The limitations in using kio are beyond annoying. It's so productive to be able to mount ftp, sftp, smb, and others, and access them reliably from one app to another and to simply select the mountpoint in the file browser to re-access that shared resource. kiofuse hasn't been touched in forever, and smb4k currently doesn't seem to work. Even when it does work it can be finicky to get the settings right to browse the network because it doesn't seem to obey settings for broadcast network, master browser, etc, correctly; And who wants to mess with that stuff anyway?
