If you're looking for numbers of women in various majors, the Digest
of Education Statistics, at http://nces.ed.gov/pubs2001/digest/ has a
lot of information (look at the list of tables for the good stuff).
In particular, http://nces.ed.gov/pubs2001/digest/dt257.html has a
list of degrees by sex of student and major. There's also good
historical data which I used for my women in science project.
A few interesting things from the above table: bachelor's degrees in
"Biological sciences/life sciences" are about 55% female; "Computer
and information sciences"; 27%, "Engineering", 18%.
There's also an NSF report on "Women, Minorities, and Persons with
Disabilities in Science and Engineering" at
http://www.nsf.gov/sbe/srs/nsf00327/start.htm .
