Hi, PHP meant for web programming and it does that in a great way. Perl is good for console scripting, but I won't use to for the web any more. Tcl/Tk is good for small to medium GUI application & general scripting. Perl also uses this Tk, hence Tcl. There is no general purpose language (C) any more in application software development. you select the platform/language which best fits the application/domain.
