Firstly,Its always better to configure sendmail using m4 macro with .mc file
then further for tuning u can go for .cf file.

Secondly, If you can configure sendmail then you don't require any SMTP
server coz that itself will act as SMTP server, What you will need is an
internet gateway to through your mails on internet or if you are having Wan
Ip or you are using dialup connection on that machine then theres again no
use for internet gateway

Subject: [ilugd]: Is anybody using sendmail from their PCs ?

Hi Folks!

I want to know wether sendmail can/should be used from a PC or not ?

I was able to send mails over to internet using sendmail from my PC
after
clobbering a couple of lines in the sendmail.cf. It works just fine ...
but
seems a little slow.

I want to know wether I can use sendmail from my PC to transfer mails
over
to an SMTP server (having a registered address) such as VSNL since I
have a
valid mail account on that server ... and let that server do the
remaining
of sending job. ( Like one usually does using programs like Outlook,
Ximian,
KMail, Mutt etc. )

Has anybody configured sendmail on his PC in order to relay
outbound/internet
bound mails through an SMTP server ?

I tried SMART_HOST and nullclient ... but doesn't work.

Regards,
Gagan.
