Already tried that. No go. Have you used the -S option with mke2fs? or the 
-r option?
Any idea what situations these options are able to handle successfully? Man 
pages recommends -S option as a last ditch effort. Haven't tried that yet - 
hoping that I have not reached the last ditch :-)
