Well, I've just put that Host definition into my own Icinga2 config, and it's working fine (I already have the Service definition; it's standard). I've confirmed that the server is accessible on port 443 from my Icinga monitor, and is not accessible on port 80: $ telnet 173.212.216.101 80 Trying 173.212.216.101... telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused $ telnet 173.212.216.101 443 Trying 173.212.216.101... Connected to 173.212.216.101. Escape character is '^]'. I get http://al.dehy.de/Pics/UmarDraz.png as a check result. If it's still not working for you, what's the output from "icinga2 object list --name mysite" ?
