I don't recall. I believe you can, but you'll need at least some basics.
The fonts are in SYS1.FONTLIB, and have to be loaded.
Every place I have ever had a 3800 or an IP 4000 had the AFP suite.
Never really tried to run it without the AFP stuff.

Do you know how big this thing is?
Yes. I've taken measurements of the one I'm looking at, and I think I'll be
able to fit it. It will be a squeeze, but I think I'll be able to make it
happen.
And you need AFP Software
This is my concern. Does it require AFP to operate at all? Even as a basic line printer?
If so, is there any "advantage" to a channel attached 4000 over a TCP/IP
printer in terms of native z/OS integration?
Thank you,

Subject Infoprint 4000
Hi all,
I'm looking at getting a channel-attach Infoprint 4000 for my lab/shop, but I
haven't been able to find much information about their use and configuration
online, and z/OS printing isn't my strongest area. I know that these are really
intended for bulk printing of forms and similar things, but I want to use it as
a HASP spool printer - like a really fast 1403 - to print job output. I was
hoping that someone who might have a bit more experience with one of these
machines might be able to give me any warnings I should have about this model,
along with some background about what the software setup and configuration is
like.
Thank you,
Enzo Damato
