That's one option. Assuming the availability of resources and management 
buy-in, there's also

    Add CTCA (real or virtual) and define GRS ring.

    Add CF LPAR, put everything in one sysplex and define GRS star.

In that case, for safety, each LPAR should have a cop of the software (unless 
yu can guarantee read-only.
Otherwise a homegrown serialization mechanism, or CA-MIM would be required

Several lpars, each configured as a MONOPLEX, with GRS=NONE, will use the 
software.

I understand that we would need either physical CTCs or a "coupling facility 
lock structure". Does this have to be a separate physical component ?
