"nothing" is and always has been "free" <grin>.

GNU software, and other FOSS software, is gratis and libre both. And so is 
often considered "free". Of course, it really isn't because it is costing the 
authors their time and effort. Also they pay for their own hardware, 
electricity, and internet connection. But for the rest of us, it is a gift.
