Hi Ludo, all, Yesterday, we had our monthly 🗼 + 🍺 + Guix = ❤️ and someone pointed that we have not communicated much about the GCD. And indeed. :-)
Therefore, I’m preparing a blog post! :-) Hum, maybe we could also send a message to info-guix to explain. WDYT? Somehow, the feedback you get is maybe a consequence of this lack of communication. Euh, I will not consider 3 emails for this month as “High-Traffic”, is it? > Did we go overboard with the requirement to send GCDs to info-guix? I copy/paste what I wrote elsewhere [1]. :-) Somehow, I expect that the traffic of GCD will be low. I mean, because the process is new then somehow we have many pending points to discuss. But once it runs, I expect a traffic matching the low traffic of the info-guix list. And if the traffic remains too high for the info-guix list, we will adapt and create a dedicated list. It's hard to predict beforehand. Well, that's my point of view. :-) Moreover, if it’s a GCD, then it means it has a broad impact, and how to find the right balance: • We do not go via info-guix and then people will complain because they had not been aware and they did not have the opportunity to raise their voice; • We go via info-guix and then yes the traffic on info-guix might be a bit higher than usual for the next 4-6 months (the time we clean some [1-3] “big” topics pending over the past months/years). My conclusion: We start with info-guix for the 6 months and if the traffic is too high (define high? ;-)) then we create a dedicated mailing list. WDYT?
