Richard,

This is not a chicken-egg scenario.

There is no 'gtk-3.0.css' file as part of the standard config. You have to create it.

You don't need coding skills to create the file.

1. Open Notepad.exe
2. Paste the recommended CSS rule to alter your font
3. Save the file with the "gtk-3.0.css" filename.
4. Place the file where required for your OS. (already addressed in an earlier response)

You can use any other text editor instead of notepad, but if you do so, you must absolutely save it in 'plain text' format. If you don't understand what this means, or how to do it, use Notepad.

As for how the file works, GnuCash looks for that file, and if it finds it, obeys the rules in it. If it doesn't exist, then GnuCash uses defaults coded in to the app. Any more detail than that is definitely 'off-list', and quite a rabbit hole of learning.

Regards,
Adrien

 My
belief is that there used to be a gtk file as part of the standard config, but the contents of that file are now part of the overall coding of GNU cash. I can find the directory where I believe the gtk file should reside, but I don't have such a file, and do not have the coding skills or knowledge to create one. I have seen the online advice how to edit gtk, and can manage that, but not without the file to start with. I also do not understand the relationship between a gtk file and the inbuilt coding vis a vis fonts, and how it will work. That will be an act of faith. I am in the classic situation like when your Internet connection goes down, and the support person tells you where on the internet to go for the fix.
