One important thing to note is that an extra tab for plural form won't be sufficient. There are a number of languages which either have no plural form or which have a number of plural forms. As such, the interface will have to read the Plural-Forms line of the PO in order to know how many tabs to have there. The "nplurals" part should tell you how many there are. Keep in mind that some languages may have a fairly large number here: the Irish translation team is currently debating the proper style of indicating plurals and may end up with six different forms.
