Quoting various in a recent thread ... > Whims my ass
I'll ask that the rhetoric and tension level be kept low, please. By all parties. > People are free to speak their minds and argue out their points as they > see fit. What actually counts are the votes > Anyone who easily gets frustrated with objections and confrontations > should not be here at the Incubator anyway Only partially correct, at least in the context of this e-mail. Many of the participants in discussions here are experienced ASF Members, but many are entirely new, and I'd like to see that we set a correct tone for civil, polite, if enthusiastic, discourse. As was observed: > IMVHO, it is conflicts like this that makes Incubator work less fun... > We should not be giving podlings a pass on violations of policy. But > assuming the the process should be frustrating and confrontational > seems wrong to me. This same discussion came up in recent years as to why there are so few female participants in Open Source. And while I don't want to revisit that particular issue, I do want to remind everyone to please watch and control their tone. > This PMC is a major part of our interface to the rest of the world. > That face should be fair, consistent, repeatable, and as free of > frustration and controversy as possible. Thank you in advance to everyone. --- Noel --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: general-unsubscr...@incubator.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: general-h...@incubator.apache.org
