Hi Jim.
In fairness a lot of people in England don't know the rules of cricket
either! :d. I do, but only because I've read several books and watched films
featuring them, (most noteably doctor who featuring the fifth doctor peter
davison, who was quite the crickiting fan and frequently took out aliens
with well bowled balls, not to mention the third hitchhikers' novel), and
even then, I am only familiar with the basic rules as, , not all the
specific terminology and language that goes with the game.
To be honest over here football (the british kind), is far more popular than
crickit, so that even people not interested in sport will know rules and
basic terminology such as red card, offside etc, where as crickit tends to
be a lot more fan specific.
This might be rather different to america, where as I gather from watching
american tv programs, American football and baseball are pretty much of
equal popularity.
Beware the Grue!
dark.
