Dark, the game is not meant to be easy. I don't know how sighted
players play the game, but remember that they're skimming the text and
that's what the pack will do for us. It'll cut out the the uneeded
text. Here's the pack, let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Mike.
Nope I had no pack so whenever I was told where the ship was it was
super spammy.
I can see the advantage in vector aiming though how do you aim down?
Also as I said there was a bug sinse whenever I typed "aim +" or "aim
+ 4" or something like that I got told "choose a coordinate on the new
z axis" or something like that and I couldn't actually aim at all. I
got lucky with the rat in the tutorial sinse it was west of me and I
could just type aim 4 which worked.
Also, why the hell is tracking so spammy, I dn't need to be told "a
computer voice says" bl bla can't it just give the coordinates? really
this is a major fault in the game and considering I had one ship
destroyed and one nearly crippled it was pretty serious, and I've got
my voice rate set pretty high.
I prefer vip, so a vip pack would be nice anyway, as Vip works much
better with sapi than mush does (reviewing and such is easier), but I
will confess I'm a little irritated that a pac is necessary, sinse I
thought the game was intended to be accessible off the bat anyway,
really the staff should do a better job with combat display here and
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this before.
If you could send me the pack I might try again, although I confess
I'm a bit irritated with the game thus far as it seems amazingly harsh
when you screw up.
I logged out and got one ship blown up, bye bye starter lone, I messed
up a ground combat (which I admit was my fault), then I got one ship
severely crippled and one ship blown to bits in twoimpossible combats
leaving me with no money, no ship, no suit and no way to progress,
and all the suggestion I got was "go beg my alliance" who didn't
particularly help either (not that I'd go begging money off people).
I couldn't even take out a lone.
If you send me the pack I might give the game another try.
All the best,
Dark.

Subject: Re: [Audyssey] Star conquest very irritating
Hey dark,
I'm glad you asked here, and now that I know it was you, I can help.
Do you have a pack for SC? Their is one for VIP, and once we're done
updating the one for VIP, I'm going to port it to mushclient. The
reason I couldn't say this to you on newbie, is because the staff
don't like players talking about packs on the game. Once our pack is
approved by the staff, we can though. If you need the pack for vip,
I can drop you a link. Now for your questions.
I'm guessing that you didn't have the pack, so combat was a ton
harder for you. With the pack, you'll see the following:
tracking <enemy>
<direction>
In SC, their are two ways to lock on to an enemy. Coords and
vectors. My guess is that you had coords selected as your preferred
aiming method. I use vector aiming. W is north, A is west, D is
east, and so on.
For aiming up and down, I do aim -s, or +s. Remember that sine S is
at the center of WASD, it tells the game to aim either directly up,
or down. You can change this with aim +w, aim -x, and so on.
Let me know if this helps, and if you need the pack. Hope you decide
to give the game another try with this information.

Hi.
Well I have asked this on audiogames.net so might as well ask here.
?
Promethius I find a little incoherent for my taste in terms of
activities and what not, miriani I don't like the idea of all the
pvp and license to grief, so I decided to try star conquest. I have
heard the bit about the enforced rp and profile creation but I
thought I tried that, however I've not had a game where I've failed
quite so badly.
?
I did the tutorial and talked to the new pilot lieason office and
did the tasks he said. Expooring and salvage were fine but combat
was a real pest, mostly because there is no quick way to get the
coordinates of the enemy and by the time you've heard the computer
saying "rat automated starship at 3 4 5 " the bloody thing has
likely moved, ---- and no I am not rewritng my entire mud client
just to play one game with all the scripting and such, I have no
idea how to do that I just want to play not program.
?
I did try ground combat and that was cool, accept I got my
battlesuit blown up which I freely admit was entirely my faultfor
not bailing fast enough.
i then quit the game and lost my cargo hauler leaving me with two
sets of massive bills and no ship. I just about! had enough for a
flitter which I bought, and tried a little combat again, and got
completely slaughtered, particularly sinse the aim + command for
aiming up in combat just didn't work, I was told "select a direction
on the z axis"
?
How the hell does anyone! do combat in this game?
?
with no money, and no ship I was stuck (nd I couldn't get a lone
either sinse I kept getting refused), and the only advice I got was
go and beg on alliance channel. People were actually very nice on
the newby channel, but didn't really have any suggestions.
?
I'd rather not make myself a pain to other players especially when
i'm learning a game and making so many major mistakes, so I deleted
my character.
?
Given however that a lot of people do! play star conquest, I wonder,
how the hell do people do it? am I missing something about combat?
or does it take all that scripting nonsense, ie, the game is not
accessible without massive amounts of work.
?
Any advice appreciated sinse I really want to play a space game, I
did enjoy the background and some of the activities, but I am
frankly now rather frustrated.
Back to alter methinks.
All the best,
Dark.
