Thank you for the insights. I was not really aware of memory management and I didn't really question in advance which DOS version fits my machine best.
I did spend a lot of time installing FreeDOS 1.4 and it runs, however that doesn't mean it's a good choice. If I get it right, DR-DOS 3.41 is small in size, offers more free RAM, and is designed for 16-bit. For such reasons, it's more suitable for my setup. I would still like to ask, since DR-DOS 3.41 is an earlier release, some features will be cut compared to newer ones for sure. But to what extent?
