Greetings,of course,if there is a clone of 486,there is no need to clone 086. Thanx for the good news, that such clones exist & r doable, thus Legacy architecture is not dead. So the remaining problem is to make it cheaper to create new Legacy HW,which is the meaning of my offer. To rebuild my house to a plant for making Legacy HW is expensive for the cost of the reconstruction, but then U can run the plant for free,& if U will pay no rent & in the case of equipping it with its own Solar+Wind power plant U will also pay nothing for electricity & as I do not have children, the users of the plant will become its owners after my death, for decades of 0 cost for rent & 0 cost for electricity it must push down the cost of Legacy HW made there, which is the goal of my offer. Thanx for listening. Shabbat Shalom. With regards Sabina Zelená[=Green]. LIVE LONG & PROSPER,live & let live=DO NOT EAT,NOR WEAR ANIMALS,nor do not pay Their Murderers & oppressors, please. There is no need to clone an 8086.
You can run the entire system or just a CPU in an FPGA. There are versions for several of the older CPUs out there. Even 486 equvilants. Just google ‘FPGA 8086 CPU” or similar. Probably cost prohibitive. FPGAs are not super cheap. But, doable. :-) Jerome
