Greetings, thanks for the replay. I even know, some guy in New Zealand is making XT-clones including new MoBos,but as U pointed,i am afraid, that project is also dependent on using original CPUs,which survived. So do U think, even cloning a 086/088 CPU is impossible? BTW x86 CPUs was already reverse engineered,@ least AMD had stolen the schematics & successfully cloned Intel's architecture @ least for 286/386/486/P1,thus if 1ce they was cloned,y they could not be cloned again? & the size of the (Free)DOS community will grow with inconveniences of using contemporary OSs & HW,i guess, all intellectuals will return to DOS,moreover disidents will sure return to DOS,as contemporary mainstream OSs r too Orwell,so soon nostalgia will sure not be the only reason for prefering DOS,people will want a NON-ORWELL OS,or a non-wasting OS,or so,or something more reliable for industrial applications, something, which will not fall apart within 2 or 3 years,so sure more reasons to restore production than just for gamers. No1 in whole community with equipment for cloning CPUs? No1 with clean lab? Best regards. S.Z.. I think you are missing the biggest possible issue we are going to face. Making mainboards might be possible. Look at some of the Commondore clones. But cloning a CPU I am very afraid is whole different ball game. And I wonder if that is even possible for such small market.
