That day will be here in Q4 2001. IBM is planning to launch a new system
based on the Power4 processor. According to the design papers I've read, the
Power4 has two processor cores per die.
Big computing it certainly not going away. SMP may not be the most efficient
design, but NUMA appears to have a lot of promise.
