I already +1 a different logo so I guess I cannot +1  this one. However I like 
it. 

Do you think integrating the feather as part of the X letter might make it more 
distinct or is just to cheesy (even make the feather black and white)?

I would +1 this logo. This logo clearly means "Flex is Apachised" i.e
Apache Flex. It depicts the purpose of Apache behind Flex and it will be a
differentiation from Adobe Flex. Taking into account of other Apache
projects this logo will add another feather into Apache Kitty. +1 from my
side.
