An 1- 2- 4- and 8-bit AVI is palettized no matter if it contains a palette or not. Of course it has to contain palette in order to display it correctly, but in the case of 1 bpp I have set a default black & white palette in raw_init_decoder() to avoid sudden surprises when switching from using monow.
