That depends in which countries he holds the trademark, for what purpose and is the trademark is not somehow considered undefended. To my knowledge, as far as NAB is concerned, he does not own any applicable trademark that would be valid in Clark County. So from a legal standpoint, I think that anybody can do whatever the hell they want with the FFmpeg name and logo there. That being said, I do think that the moral question remains regarding what is right or wrong to do with them, and nothing prevents the GA from setting rules on, say, their members or FFmpeg-devel subscribers. In other words, it does not feel right that one person unilaterally claims to represent FFmpeg, even if it may be legal. IMO, if someone intends to represent FFmpeg at an event, it is minimum courtesy to notify FFmpeg-devel *before* the arrangements are made. Then whoever arranges the booth should do best efforts to have it staffed. (FWIW, the IBC booth was _empty_ except for a logo.) And finally, the booth should not be let hijacked by another entity (this includes a GPAC-related for-profit). -- Rémi Denis-Courmont http://www.remlab.net/ _______________________________________________ ffmpeg-devel mailing list ffmpeg-devel@ffmpeg.org https://ffmpeg.org/mailman/listinfo/ffmpeg-devel To unsubscribe, visit link above, or email ffmpeg-devel-requ...@ffmpeg.org with subject "unsubscribe".
