I have seen a reference to a more recent version of printerdrake that is supposedly at linuxprinting.org and is supposed to fix this, but I have not been able to find this printerdrake. Apparently, the freezing occurs during the printer autodetection, and there doesn't seem to be any way to turn that feature off in the printerdrake that came with LM 8.1. I would assume that printerdrake is just a front end to some command-line program(s), so there should be some way to add this printer manually, but nothing I have tried so far has worked.
