No, it's an old X process. I think it dates back a few weeks, when X unexpectedly hung, and I was forced to hard-reboot (this is a laptop, so it was not a big deal).
Someone suggested I try a "sighup", but no such command exists on my system. Maybe I misunderstood? I did try kill -9, which I thought was supposed to take out pretty much anything, but not in this case...
