What is the name of this zombie process? Is this a child process or a parent process? I'll bet it is a child process, and the parent process is no longer running. You might even have the infamous mandrake "kapm-idled" zombie that was lurking back in an earlier kernel version of Mandrake. If this is the case, you will need to compile newer kernel....
