1. Easy to "promote" an existing ext2 filesystem to ext3 and three journaling 
modes, selected as options in /etc/fstab.

2. If necessary, an ext3 system can be mounted as ext2 (especially by other 
OS's that lack reiserfs support but have ext2 support), like if you use a 
non-Mandrake rescue disk or boot disk without ext3 support.

3. File and directory undeletion and recovery is possible with ext3 (as in 
ext2), but that is impossible with reiserfs at present.

I find #2 and # 3 compelling reason to use it over reiserfs. Performance 
requirements are a different matter.
