Unless you received the same error message you do not have the same problem.

In Jason's case the system would boot the Mandrake CD but then the installer
could not find his CD-ROM drive, hence the hdb=cdrom telling the kernel
where to look.

If you are getting the "generic" ramdisk error try using a boot disk to
start the
installation or even boot the installation from DOS and see if that can get
you
over the hump.

I'm having the same problem.. your solution doesn't work.. it just fixed hdb
back to empty.   i've tried plugging the cdrom in as slave and master.

i'm totally befustered.   it's a duron600, FIC board.   it stop while
playing with a ramdisk.  what could possibly be wrong there?
