It may have helped. I had my 2011 leaf for about 12 years, always parked
outside. I never exchanged the 12v battery.

The premium version of the original Leaf had a built in 12v battery minder solar panel on
the rear "spoiler". My low end S model doesn't have it...I always wondered if
it really worked for long term storage or not.
