Hi John, congrats on your impending move. I hear good things about
Portugal. Also they seem pretty serious about EVs. in 2024, EVs were almost
20% of their vehicle sales.

We're in France, not Portugal, so I don't know how much help we'll be. But
here charging has expanded rapidly. Most of the autoroute fuel stops have
AC at 22kW and DC at 150-350kW. Even small towns have public charging
points, often AC only, but you may need a map to find them. The big grocery
chains are adding charging. Lidl's is reasonably priced.

This thread has some thoughts on multi-network charging cards and apps in
Spain and Portugal:

We've been fairly satisfied with Chargemap (website, app, card). They
impose a surcharge but IMO it's far from excessive. chargemap dot com

One other thing to remember is that you need less public charging here
because EU rail travel is infinitely better than in the US. Parking at the
train stations can be pricey, but many times there's much cheaper parking a
short walk away.
