Some Teslas has a resistive defroster in the front windshield where the
wipers rest to help with this problem:

I'm not sure if it would have helped in the exact situation, though.  The
details matter, and I wasn't there.

I thought I would mention it because this didn't seem to be part of the
thread.  Defrosting the car while attached to the charger really does seem
to be The Tesla Way to deal with every cold-weather problem.

How well it works, of course, depends on the details of the situation.

Several of the cute Tesla quirks (like the frameless windows and flush door
handles) have reminded me why the conventional designs became conventional.
