Did the procedure in the Cold Weather Best Practices section of the Owner's Manual not work to unstick the door handles? I had to use that specific technique a couple of times on the 2019 M3 I used to drive. The don't discuss issues with the Frunk, so you may have run into an issue that Tesla didn't consider. Was it snow and ice covering the Frunk that was the problem, or was it a frozen latch mechanism?
Newer MYs have a windshield wiper defrost function, but I assume that feature came long after you bought yours. I do agree that Tesla's flush door handle designs are very impractical. Hopefully we are done with strange winter weather.
