Especially for the more rational tradespeople. 

The ones I talk to here can't understand why pickups are so popular with US 
tradespeople.  Almost all of them use vans.  Their tools are protected from 
theft (admittedly a pickup lockbox protects smaller tools) and their 
materials are safe from the weather.  In fact it's somewhat unusual to see 
pickups at all here.
