Yeah, I see where you're coming from. Focus on results not the specifics of the technology. From that point of view, ending at a point where ICE and EV and their upstream and downstream industries and effects are unharmful is just fine.
The trouble, in my opinion is that electrification has, like the powertrains themselves, far fewer moving parts. ICE and fuel production is so complicated that it's a wonder we've come as far as we have. Even perfect ICE is likely to end up a niche market for purely economic reasons.
