I don't believe the sound deadening foam that is common to be associated with the "self sealing" feature of the Bolt tires.
Up in Montana, near the Lima SuperCharger, I had need of a flat repair on my 3. The tire guy cut a section out of the foam, 2"-3" across, to access the puncture. He was about to leave out the cut section but I had him glue it back in place. I doubt that it made any difference one way or the other.
