The area I live in used to be riddled with train tracks. They are all gone now, they finally pulled up the rails and the sleepers maybe 10 years ago, nothing left now but cinders. Despite having 5 different lines come together, Contention and Fairbank were such small towns that when the trains stopped, they became ghost towns overnight.
Pretty much all rail lines that have been "abandoned" have been dismantled by now. There is a big program called "Rails to Trails" where they convert what's left of them over to hiking/bicycling trails. > What rails are left are indeed heavily used. But a great deal of track has > been abandoned or > allowed to fall into ruin. _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub ARCHIVE: http://www.evdl.org/archive/index.html INFO: http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org Please discuss EV drag racing at NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
