I have found my posted idea (above URL) is not new. It has been discussed on several plugin sites (Leaf, i-Miev, DIY, and more). So, there is interest out there for having a higher powered way to charge a cheap used CHAdeMO compatible EV using the CHAdeMO port. emotorworks.com page requires three of their products, and it is a geek-only project for a higher than 9kW CHAdeMO charging method (240VAC * 40A= 9.6kW, with a 95+% efficiency that changes the actual output to about 9kW). 9kW charging a Leaf pack to 80% SOC would take about 2.5 hours. I found on a search that there are at least three sites offering a 10kW CHAdeMO charger, but they will not operate off a 208-240 VAC 2-phase 50 Amp source, which is easy to obtain in N. America (Canada, U.S.A., Mexico, and +more). Since emotorwerks posted to the DIY forum (seeking sales), I sent a message to them asking them to consider making a (non-geek) plug-n-play off-the-shelf 9kW CHAdeMO charger that can operate off a Nema 10-50 208 to 240 VAC 50 Amp dryer outlet. Since the quantity would be small, I suggested they consider using crowdfunding (as they have before) to not only gain visibility but know how many buyer were interested.
