I'm trying to set up a computer for a customer who wants to just run a single rotary axis with EMC. He's using my PWM board and one servo amp. I was trying to strip down a 4-axis configuration to just run the one axis. So far, I have built a complete one-axis and a two-axis set of configs files, and am having a problem with Axis. Axis starts and stays running, but gives no display on the screen! I have set the number of axes in the [TRAJ] section, and put the axis name(s) and home offsets there. Any idea what else I need to set for Axis to come to life? When run from a terminal window, I get ten repetitions of this message: emcTrajSetAxes failing: axes=2 axismask=9 followed by : emctaskmain.cc 2605 can't initialize motion
The reason I'm trying to reshuffle the axes is because the A axis would normally come out on axis 3 on my UPC board, and my minimill is set up with that axis wired to the spindle encoder and servo spindle drive. Also, any suggestions about using EMC in this mode with just one rotary axis, if anyone has ever done that, would be welcome. The customer wants to use this as an indexer with a Haas mill, and have the Hass control command EMC to step to the next position in its program, and send a signal back to the Haas that it is done.
