I have a mill that has 160 volt 20 amp motors and a Mesa 7I43 board. Is anyone using EMC2 with the 7I43 and Hostmot2 with Jon Elison's or Mesa's 7I29 PWM servo amps? Are there any other reasonably priced (~$150 axis) PWM amps available that are working?
I've been running my mill for 6 or 7 years on Mach3 with Gecko's hoping that a good reasonably priced high power step and direction drive would be developed. That has not happened and I need to move on. The decision to use a 7I43 was easy. I won it at Cardinal. I've played with the live CD's, watched EMC's progress and am convinced that EMC2 will easily support what I do. Linux doesn't worry me too much as I used to code and support QNX4 (Unix derivative) based industrial controllers. I am being assimilated. My resistance was futile and based mostly on laziness.
