What you say is true, but ... how do you know that the guys you are
beating out are 10 over? Not many DX or contest stations are giving out
honest signal reports.
I'm curious what your antennas are.

I'm not missing any point at all. If my signal is S-7 and I'm beating out
QRO guys that are 10 over, there is no "heavy lifting" at all. It's all
about timing and frequency selection. Sure, there are times where the
other guy is doing the bulk of the work. But not as often as the "life is
too short for QRP" folks might think.
Hey, I'm all for QRO and big antennas. I've had them before and will
again. I also chose to dedicate a full solar cycle to operating QRP. I
enjoy different aspects of radio operating.

You miss the point. It is of course possible to bust a pileup with good
timing and the proper choice of calling frequency ... and possibly
better propagation than the QRO guys have ... but the odds are that the
guy you're calling has a much better station than you do and is still
the one doing the heavy lifting.
Don't give yourself more credit than you deserve.

I think operating QRP is great fun, but let's face it ... when operating
QRP (especially with lesser antennas) the other guy is typically doing
all the heavy lifting.
While I certainly understand that concept, that doesn't explain the
*many*
times I've busted pileups using small antennas and low power...when there
are lots of QRO guys with big antennas calling.
