That's true, of course ... which is why you're able to make DX and
contest contacts. Try making that contact when propagation is such that
the QRO guys are below S4, though. Amplifiers show their worth when the
band is weak or noisy.

other guy running 100W is S-9 with me, I should be around S-7 to
him...which generally should not be a problem.
