I bought a new iPhone for my test bench. Its on 18.4. On a large mailbox its downloading data in batches of about 300MB from the server. In my case, on a capable network this is coming in at around 300Mbps. Then itll pause for a while, presumably processing that data. During that pause it wont make any new requests to the server. Then after a few minutes itll download another 300MB or so. Once its been through a few rounds of this assuming its satisfied whatever its trying to do performance will be good.
On mailboxes with huge amounts of messages or slow/unreliable connections it seems to be perpetually stuck in this cycle.
