Using updated Alma Linux 8 with Dovecot 2.3.16.I do note that disabling imap idle is mentioned as a potentially helpful workaround however presumably that would stop 'push' style updating for all other users so its not really suitable in my case. Advanced user, large quantity of users. Willing to pay for a solution.
iOS 18.4 seems to work far better for me. Refresh is still slow, but I can now open emails and attachments fast. Maybe I am lucky.
