As Doug noted multicast needs to be enabled on every router along the 
path.  A lot of routers don't have it on anymore.

I was at a SAGA-AU meeting once when it was suggested that the key problem 
was the volume charging multicast traffic was difficult, and that this was 
why so many ISPs had it disabled.

Haing said that, as well as my earlier experiences with multicast 
(somewhere in 92-94) I've also attended SAGE-AU meetings in recent years 
that were broadcast over multicast between various sites across Australia, 
so some ISPs clearly do have it enabled :)
