I don’t know, folks.  

If I’ve got a req out and I get in the room someone with a degree is CompSci 
and only a year or two experience versus someone with no degree, but an A+, an 
LPI, and a couple years working at a computer shop or even <shudder> as an 
Apple Genius, I’ll take the latter almost every single time.  The ONLY caveat 
I’ll lay out regarding the former candidate is if they’re a contributor on a 
FOSS project, especially one related to System Administration duties like 
Collectd, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Nagios/Xymon/etc.  Under those circumstances, 
the selection process becomes a lot harder, but I’ll usually trend toward 
someone with some classroom PLUS practical over 4 years of theoretical 
experience every single time.
