Another resource occurred to me soon after I hit the send button. Listen to the first 80-something episodes of 'The Stack Overflow Podcast'. Here you have Jeff Atwood and Joel Spolsky talking weekly as they attempt to code up the original Stack Overflow. Since they're trying to build excellent *code* that facilitates an excellent *community* for asking questions and giving answers, I suspect they may cover a lot of things that will be of interest in your quest. I didn't agree with everything I heard in this series but there is plenty here to think about!
