Interesting, last time I really looked into it I did find the printer but it assigned a random diver that didn't work properly. This meant that when I asked to print something the print commands were printed instead of the actual print content. I only managed to solve it by installing a proper Epson driver. >> In any case, maybe it's worth having a mention of the removed drivers >> on either the Common Bugs or the Release Notes? > > > We've had this one documented for many releases in a row: > https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/usb-printers-stop-working-if-they-use-a-classic-driver-while-driverless-printing-is-supported-and-enabled/76556 > > It's not completely the same case, but it's a related topic. > I actually became a packager recently, and I would be fine with adopting only epson-inkjet-printer-escpr, since it's the one used by my printer and is apparently fully FLOSS. If someone else is interested in epson-inkjet-printer-escpr2, they might adopt it independently. I guess since it has been a long that since it has been orphaned I will have to go through the entire unretiring process. I will look into it soon. For reference, this is the info of the current epson driver I have installed on my system, running a slightly higher version: ``` $ rpm -qi epson-inkjet-printer-escpr Name : epson-inkjet-printer-escpr Version : 1.8.6 Release : 1 Architecture: x86_64 Install Date: Sat Apr 5 17:47:06 2025 Group : Applications/System Size : 5947255 License : GPL Signature : (none) Source RPM : epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.8.6-1.src.rpm Build Date : Wed Oct 2 01:08:43 2024 Build Host : VirtualBox Packager : Seiko Epson Corporation <linux-prin...@epson.jp> Vendor : Seiko Epson Corporation URL : http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/?OSC=LX Summary : Epson Inkjet Printer Driver (ESC/P-R) for Linux Description : This software is a filter program used with Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS) from the Linux.
