Mine is the Epson L3150, it is connected to my Wifi network and supports printing via mobile by installing the Epson Print Enabler, it also apparently had Google Cloud Printing support (I guess Google discontinued that?) I guess mDNS works because the printer is found by the GNOME add printer screen without using any cables. I already installed the driver from the Epson website since there's none in the repos anymore, what I am curious about is that if the "classic drivers" (assuming the one I'm using is one of them) gets removed I will be able to still keep using the printer or if, like someone in the email thread mentioned, the "IPP" approach Epson uses on this printer is proprietary and will force me to rely on one of their apps. In any case, maybe it's worth having a mention of the removed drivers on either the Common Bugs or the Release Notes? I don't think people would like having printer drivers preventing an upgrade or upgrading and having broken printing. > > Zdenek > > > > > I assume that aside from the fact that the maintainer dropped the > > packages for not using Epson printers in long time, there is also the > > fact that the "classic" drivers support from CUPS will be dropped in > > the near future... > > > > [0] > > https://support.epson.net/linux/Printer/LSB_distribution_pages/en/escpr.php > > [1] > > https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/cups-useful-tricks/#_how_to_install_a_print_queue > > > > Thanks for your patience, > > Mateus Rodrigues Costa > > > > Em ter., 10 de dez. de 2024 às 06:20, Susi Lehtola > > <jussileht...@fedoraproject.org> escreveu: > >> Hi, > >> > >> > >> I have orphaned epson-inkjet-printer-escpr and epson-inkjet-printer-escpr2 > >> due > >> to lack of time and as I have not had an Epson inkjet printer for over two > >> years. > >> > >> Susi > >> -- > >> Susi Lehtola > >> Fedora Project Contributor > >> jussileht...@fedoraproject.org > >> > >> -- > >> _______________________________________________ > >> devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org > >> To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org > >> Fedora Code of Conduct: > >> https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ > >> List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines > >> List Archives: > >> https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org > >> Do not reply to spam, report it: > >> https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue > > -- > Zdenek Dohnal > Senior Software Engineer > Red Hat, BRQ-TPBC > Thanks for your time, Mateus Rodrigues Costa -- _______________________________________________ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue
